Team Lead

RealDecoy (Canada) Inc is a growing international web development company. Our capabilities are twofold: we architect, plan and build a wide range of web sites and web-related projects, and we integrate applications into clients' existing infrastructure. Our clients range from small agencies to large multinational corporations. We excel at what we do, we work to the very highest standards and all of our staff takes great pride in their work.

We are 10 years old and have had considerable success. As a result of our continuing growth, we are expanding our Kingston, Jamaica office and are looking for someone to lead the local development team.

Your Challenge:

RealDecoy currently has a small team in its Kingston office and it is seeking to develop the capabilities of this team. Your challenge will be to lead the Kingston development team, calling on the Ottawa office for support as needed. You will have day-to-day supervisory responsibility for the developers working in Kingston although you will receive tasking and learning support from Ottawa. The role will be fast paced from the moment you start; you will be learning new technologies, new ways of working and you will be collaborating with a variety of clients to ensure that we provide the best possible service to them. While we strongly believe in a work-life balance, this will not be a 9-5 type role.

Travel may be a possibility for this position: therefore the ability to obtain a travel visa is preferred.

As the Ideal Candidate, you will probably have:

• A diverse background with experience in various web development technologies such as Java (Servlets, JSP, JSTL), ASP.NET, PHP as well as fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and WEB Serives (SOAP and REST).
• A passion for working with and leading people and helping them achieve.
• An ability to work autonomously and to exercise excellent judgment while simultaneously working as part of a greater team.
• Experience with source control systems (SVN).
• Experience working with object oriented application design for the web
• Experience with data modeling, batch processing, ETL, and data verification.
• A deep understanding of quality, continuous improvement and learning.

It would be great if you also had:

• Knowledge of Java frameworks: Springs, Struts, Hibernate, etc
• Experience with other application servers: WebSphere etc
• Knowledge of SOAP and web services implementation
• Experience with ORM tools
• Experience troubleshooting application performance problems & optimizing web systems.
• Experience with MSSQL, MySQL, Access, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other DB platforms.
• Experience with Drupal, Wordpress and other mid to enterprise level Content Management Systems.
• Knowledge of search engines like Google Search appliance, Endeca and Apache Solr.
